This sickness is finally past! Hallalujah! For those of you who are in close proximity to our happy little family, you know that we have had extremely good luck with Evie and sickness up until last week. We have had our share of trips to the ped's office, but for the most part, there have been no "Oh my gosh, she's going to die, we need to get her to the hospital" moments. Well, last Wednesday, in the middle of all of our church drama, she catches some kind of stomach virus and starts spewing everywhere. Because everytime she would eat something she would throw up, she developed an aversion to food. And drink. We tried everything from soda (her favorite, but a big no-no because the bubbles inflate the tummy...who knew) to pediapops because she loves popsicles. We eventually got her hydrated enough to start producing wet diapers. The vomiting stopped and we thought she was making progress. Then the other end started acting up. Even less fun, but at least contained in the diaper. Saturday and Sunday she seemed to be getting a lot better and was taking a little bit of food and by Sunday night we thought we were in the clear. We skipped church Sunday morning because of the snow and her germs, but ended up going Sunday night. Poor Nana kept both kids in the nursery with another mom and her two kids that trail Evie and John by a month respectively. We had a guest preacher who gets very enthusiastic and ran a little long in his sermon (nothing wrong with that because we have needed that sort of thing at our church for a long time). About ten minutes before the end of the sermon, Evie blows up. Both ends. All over the nursery floor. By the time I get back there, they've changed her into her pajamas that I had in her diaper bag and cleaned up the mess on the floor. Poor little dear. She felt sooooo much better after this last hurrah of sickness. I decided at that point that I didn't care what the nurse at the peds said, I was bringing her in. So, we went to the doc yesterday morning and since then, she has been just fine. Maybe its a psychological thing with her. If she goes to the doctor and they tell her she's fine, she'll believe it. If I tell her, nope, she's still sick. Anyways, we're back to normal today. She's asking for food again and has her energy back. All of the energy. Sigh.
Luckily for all of us, John was an angel through the whole thing.
