If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Here's some pictures of the aftermath of the timber cutting at the farm (for all you cousins and friends that would visit the farm for fireworks and such...everyone else...this might be kind of boring...okay...a lot boring so just skip to the next entry...or just look at the not so pretty pictures and ignore the commentary).
Here's the view from the front porch looking across the road...you know, where the cornfield and pet cemetary are located. Dad wanted the gully to be left alone so he'd still have a view of trees from where their new bedroom will be. Behind that though...it looks like a giant tornado went through. It was really cool to walk around back there. Now that its been cleared, there is a lot of room to make more 4-wheeler trails.

This is the area I was talking about above. As you can see, there isn't much left. I didn't realize just how many acres the Cabaniss family owned on that side of the road. These pictures don't really do the space justice. I tried to give it some scale by putting mom and Derek in the picture.

This is down by the creek. The area in the front of the picture was where the blackberry bushes used to be that you could see from the deer stand in that back corner field. You could get to the creek this way, but you had to cross the barbed wire fence and fight the trees and bushes all the way down. We didn't go down the trail that led to the creek because we were in the truck and it wouldn't fit. The plan is to replant some baby pines and regrow the timber, but since it will take a while it to be considered "woods" again, we'll have plenty of space and time to make lots of trails. If you look close you can see Derek and Grace at the bottom of the hill. It is just amazing how much space is actually there when you cut back the trees!
